May 14, 2014 – Veolia Tour

Veolia Energy Philadelphia Power Plant Tour

Veolia Energy is a global leader developing and operating energy efficient plants in 35 countries employing 50,000 people worldwide. In Philadelphia, Veolia Energy Philadelphia, Inc serves more than 300 customers in 500 buildings located in the central business district from three steam production facilities and one chilled water facility. The 163-MW steam plant in Grays Ferry is a cogeneration facility with a combustion turbine and an extraction/condensing steam turbine. In 2012, the plant received a $60 million investment that included an upgrade of the natural gas infrastructure and installation of two rapid-response boilers. This green investment avoids the emission of approximately 430,000 mton(CO2)/yr , which is the equivalent of removing 70,000 cars from the streets each year.
