Abstract:

This PDH will have an emphasis on High Performance Mass Transfer Equipment, Trays, and Structured Packings.

In addition the following subtopics will also be explored:

  • Background and Evolution of distilation
  • High Performance equipment
  • Performance comparisons (Benchmarking)
  • Divided Wall Column Technology

Biography:

Dr. Garcia is AMACS Process Tower Internals Business Development Manager.  Prior to joining AMACS, Dr. Garcia managed Raschig USA Mass Transfer Technology Group.  As well he has held positions in SULZER Chemtech PRAXAIR, Koch-Glitsch, and DuPont Engineering Technology (DuET).

He has extensive experience in troubleshooting and debottlenecking commercial high purity, high pressure, foaming and fouling cryogenic processes using high performance equipment (packing and trays). He has authored several refereed papers and presentations on separation processes (distillation and liquid-liquid extraction) dealing with fundamental modeling of mass transfer equipment.

He holds  PhD and MSc degrees in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin (USA) and Celaya Institute of Technology (Mexico), a BSc in Industrial Engineering Chemistry from Durango Institute of Technology (Mexico). He holds professional licenses for his MSc and BSc degrees.

Dr. Garcia is a member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), American Chemical Society (ACS) and Sigma XI Research Society and former member of Fractionation Research, Inc. (FRI) Technical Committee (Chemical companies).
