The Emotionally Intelligent Leader

Emotional intelligence is defined by the ability to use both emotional and cognitive thought. It is about managing emotions to improve job performance and, in turn, helping people stay calm and to think logically to establish good relationships and achieve goals. Emotional intelligence skills include but are not limited to empathy, intuition, creativity, flexibility, resilience, stress management, leadership, integrity, authenticity, intrapersonal skills, and interpersonal skills. It has become recognized as a key to successful development into management/leadership positions. This session will cover:

About the speaker:
Kevin Cheesebrough brings thirty-five years of leadership experience in the US Navy (submarines), and in the non-profit R&D software industry. His US Navy time included leadership from strategic to tactical including command of a nuclear submarine. His ten years in R&D gave him broad experience in program development and operational business processes. At Penn State University as the Professor of Naval Science, he trained over two hundred Navy and Marine Corp officers. He has instructed senior management students in ethics at the Penn State Smeal School of Business and teaches ethics and mindfulness and mentors coaches in the Duquesne University Professional Coach Certification Program.

Kevin is an executive coach emphasizing the development of strengths, interpersonal communication skills and leadership skills necessary for advancement to the next level. He utilizes assessment tools to identify blind spots and areas of improvement to advance the objectives of the individual. He works with leaders to develop behaviors to manage their teams more effectively, and to sustainably increase their emotional intelligence and executive presence. His areas of expertise are in emotional intelligence development, developing strengths and managing weaknesses and development of interpersonal skills.
