This course will cover the following key elements related to drying processes:
- What is drying?
- Different drying methods
- Mechanical drying
- Thermal Drying
- Heat supply mechanisms
- Examples of different dryer types used in industrial scale
- The Lödige Shovel dryer
- Specification and working principle
- Operational area
- Application examples
Dr Jakobs has a Diploma in Technical Chemistry and Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering. His Doctoral thesis was research work describing the mass transfer in nanofiltration membranes. He has worked in plants and process machinery for nearly 20 years, becoming a specialist in mechanical and thermal separation processes. He is a member of the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA) and the Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (DECHEMA)
