Drying is one of the most useful processing steps a producer can undertake for increasing the value and utility of their products. However, this process does not come without risks and dust explosions represent a real industrial hazard that should be considered for any existing or future drying process. This presentation will provide a primer on dust explosions, causes, and mitigation steps to be aware of in drying processes.
John Real has spent 10 years in the evaporation and spray drying industries. John has been with GLM Hydro for 8 years after starting his career with GEA Process Engineering in 2012. John began his career supervising the construction of greenfield crystallization, evaporation, and spray drying plants for a variety of clients in the chemical, food & beverage, and dairy industries. As a Project Engineering Manager with GLM Hydro, John’s role now includes customer technical support, sales, process engineering, supervision of construction projects, and managing a small team of engineers and designers to effect efficient and timely delivery of process engineering, equipment, system modifications and optimization efforts to help clients get the most out of their capital investments and legacy assets.
