An energy audit is a rigorous study aiming to optimize the energy consumption of an industrial process or plant. Within an “advanced” energy audit, using the pinch technology to recover waste-heat by appropriately exchanging heat between hot and cold streams within the process, demonstrates to be an excellent choice to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. Obtained results using this method are impressive. During this talk, you will learn the principles of the pinch method and the reasons why it is a key phase during your energy audits.

This talk will allow you to answer the following questions:

  • What is pinch analysis?
  • How to practically implement it?
  • What are the different steps of an “advanced” energy audit?
  • What results should you expect?

Stéphane Déchelotte, engineer graduated in Chemical Engineering from ENSIACET (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Ingénieurs en Arts Chimiques Et Technologiques – Toulouse – France) is one of the founders of ProSim. He has very early been interested in process energy efficiency and spent a lot of time in learning the details of the pinch method (or “Pinch Technology”) on both theoretical and practical aspects.

Since the popularization of this method by Professor Bodo Linnhoff in the 90s at UMIST, Stéphane Déchelotte has acquired an important expertise in this field and realized numerous studies in many industries. He regularly advises on these topics, particularly with the team of engineers who today carries out “advanced” energy audits at ProSim.
