Abstract:

Mixing intensity often drives rate processes that are critical for delivering important product properties.
People say they need “good mixing” in their process, yet often scientists and engineers prefer to look at
mixing as a “black box.” In this continuing education lecture, we will review key concepts in fluid mixing
technology and how they relate to process requirements, including

  • What is “mixing” anyway?
  • In-line and stirred tank devices
  • Power, flow, and “shear” – get the right balance for the right results
  • Basic mixing applications for single-phase and multiple-phase systems
  • Everything will not be the same when you scale up (and how to deal with it)
  • Resources (vendors, books, tools, consultants)

Join us for an intense hour that hopefully will have the right amount of turbulent flow…
